Friends of Argentine Tango (FoAT) offers the emotional and physical benefits of dance to older New Yorkers in a variety of senior centers and through virtual dance classes.
Dance is a powerful tool for wellness. It lifts spirits and inspires connections. Dance promotes overall health—cardiovascular, fall prevention—and has been demonstrated to benefit people coping with chronic conditions including Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. FoAT’s classes emphasize the social nature of dance, and no one is left out.
FoAT was founded in 2013 by Latin dance teachers/performers Walter Perez and Leonardo Sardella. Their classes bring the JOY of Dance to underserved communities.
