Susan Ettenheim

Development

Susan joined the Board in June 2022 to focus on development and capacity building. She is honored to support this program that brings Tango and Latin Social Dance to those who might not otherwise be dancing. Her work as a teacher is about bringing inclusivity, equity and opportunity to all teens.

Susan Ettenheim is an NYC public high school arts and computer science teacher. She is part of the international Turtlestitch.org (digital embroidery) team and is passionate about mixing the digital and analog worlds in teaching and art making. She studied art, Spanish literature and mathematics, earning a BA cum laude from Mount Holyoke College and continued her education at the New School University, Bank Street College of Education, Parsons School of Design and NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program. She volunteered as a Board Member for Ping Chong after discovering the work at La Mama.

Susan started to dance as an adult after a bicycle accident and has found health, community and many new friends along the way. She studies Argentine Tango with Maria Jose Sosa, Walter Perez and Leo Sardella and is studying New York style Mambo at Alvin Ailey Extension under Katherine Jimenez.
