  • Arlene Jordan was born in Brooklyn. She has lived in the Soho community since 1976.

  • Arlene worked for the NYC Department of Education as a teacher, teacher trainer, assistant principal, consultant and director for 31 years and over 10 years for New York City Center. There was always a dance component in each of her positions

  • In her tenure, Arlene received many awards: Arts Partner Award, Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts; Golden Administrator Award, New York Star Alliance; Gaining the Arts Advantage, Presidents' Committee on Arts and the Humanities; Arts Advocate of the Year, NYC Art Teachers' Association.

  • In 2015 Arlene was recruited by the NYC Department of Education and the Lincoln Center Scholars Program to mentor new dance teachers working in challenging schools across the city.
