Arlene Jordan was born in Brooklyn. She has lived in the Soho community since 1976.
Arlene worked for the NYC Department of Education as a teacher, teacher trainer, assistant principal, consultant and director for 31 years and over 10 years for New York City Center. There was always a dance component in each of her positions
In her tenure, Arlene received many awards: Arts Partner Award, Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts; Golden Administrator Award, New York Star Alliance; Gaining the Arts Advantage, Presidents' Committee on Arts and the Humanities; Arts Advocate of the Year, NYC Art Teachers' Association.
In 2015 Arlene was recruited by the NYC Department of Education and the Lincoln Center Scholars Program to mentor new dance teachers working in challenging schools across the city.
